Prairie Lone Country Bear, 20 inch cloth doll animal bear

This 20 inch bear was fun to make I used warm and natural quilting batting to make the most of the body of the bear, I did use black felt for the boots on the bear.
No the fabric did not come this color what I did was took a brown acrylic paint and stained the warm and natural quilting batting and then baked the body of the bear in the over at 200 degrees until completely dried. Then I added the black boots which are apart of the body of the bear.

I then added buttons for eyes and hand sewed them in along hand sewing some of the other facial features of the bear, then I add a bit of brown yarn that I pulled apart for some hair at the top of the head.

The dress of the bear is all cotton/rayon fabrics and I love this fabric I found once at fabric depot in Portland Oregon. You can see that it is all about those days on the prairie. I will be adding this rag cloth doll animal bear to the Art Fire store in the next few days; so it can soon be purchased there.

Kitten the very Cool Halloween Witch

Well I know I was going to talk about a quit.... but then I thought of Kitten who is a wonderful witch cloth doll I created last year.
Kitten is 32 inches in length and is made up of Halloween cotton fabrics, fiber fill, black fleece and cotton doll fabric. I did something interesting with her facial features; in that I gave her green safety cat eyes, well everyone knows a witch can transform herself into a cat so I felt it was important that Kitten kept one of those many cat features.

I also added some heavy black quilting thread for those disorganized lashes and the mouth is a bright red heart button sewn to her head. There is a bit of powder blush added to those checks and her hair is of two different kinds of yards, an orange doll hair yarn and just a regular gray cotton yarn. I think she turned out to be the cat's meow.

Etta The Wanna be Witch

I can hardly believe that fall is nearing and summer is to a close and one of my favorite Holidays is just around the bend.
So I want to talk about Etta
Etta is entirely from my imagination, so she is one of a kind and she is located in my Art fire store for purchasing.

I took muslin and stained it with a wood walnut stain and baked the fabric in the oven so that staining is set into the doll. She is filled with fiber fill and the facial features are hand embroidered; there also are two different sized buttons just to give her more of a personality.
The hair is a decorative yarn that is sewn into her head and the cloth is cotton Halloween fabrics.
The pants are a cotton flannel and the shoes a brown felt with cotton floss for shoe laces.
There is a kitty button sewn to the dress and a pretty black satin bow tied around her center, she was so much fun to create and she is attempting to become a full witch but without much success so these days she is just looking for that special person who can give her a good home.

Recycling a Lace Curtain into a Small Crochet Basket

I had this torn lace curtain so thought what to do with it? then I decided to start cutting it into 2 inch strips and knotting them together as like a ball of
yarn.
Next I got out the 3/4 crochet hook and began crocheting a double and single stitch to make this small basket.
I think is came out pretty looking and interesting also; what a fun way to recycle an torn curtain.

Applique Fleece Blanket, The Bunny Blanket

I created this a while back using just a little over a yard of yellow fleece.
The silly bunny is purple fleece the grass is cotton fabrics and stems are a cotton fabric and the flowers are fleece along with the clouds.
How I created this blanket was just cutting out the pieces free hand, using no patterns just what I felt the flowers and bunny should look like then I added buttons of various kinds, such as lady bugs, butterfly, and some pretty breaded flowers that the bunny is holding.
Then I used my sewing machine to do the applique work around each item, doing a zigzag stitch and the last thing I did was to do a bit of a fringe on the outside edge.
I will be adding this to my art fire store in a few days so that it can be purchased.
